Inflammation is the body’s natural response to stress. There are many contributing factors which include poor diet, emotional stress and environmental toxins to name a few. There is no escape from the effects of inflammation, but if we have the right tools to help us keep a HEALTHY BODY and a HEALTHY MIND we can keep it at bay and not allow inflammation to rule our lives. Heart disease is on the rise and is the number one killer in America today. As a wellness counselor specializing in working with overweight men and women who lack self esteem and self confidence, I have seen an unfortunate rise in cases involving high blood pressure and high
cholesterol. By helping my clients make minor changes in their daily lifestyles these detrimental effects have be reversed.
Perhaps the biggest challenge that my clients have is overcoming their negative attitudes. They come to me with things like “I’m fat and I’m sick so why should I be happy?” ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING without a POSITIVE ATTITUDE our health and happiness gradually declines. Studies have shown that having a POSITIVE outlook decreases the inflammatory response. When you decrease the inflammatory response, the incidence of high blood pressure and high cholesterol can dramatically be decreased. Developing a POSITIVE ATTITUDE and living your life gratefully can ensure a HAPPY,HEALTHY LIFE. Establishing an ATTITUDE OF GRATITUDE is always first priority when I meet with my client.
While a HEALTHY DIET consisting of low glycemic carbohydrates, with plenty of fruits and vegetables and a persistent exercise routine are a must to help lower your blood pressure and cholesterol, and reduce inflammation, self-care is absolute. This includes yoga, meditation, self-talk and more sleep. When our food and our moods are in sync WE CAN KEEP OUR MIND AND OUR BODY IN TOTAL HARMONY.
Keep on Keeping on Everyone

My journey to a newer, healthier ME began 18 years ago when I was 13 years old. Growing up with Cerebral Palsy and Epilepsy and being the brother of a twin who was involved in all kinds of sports and social activities it made it very hard for me to compete.
